Cabernet Franc: Michigan’s Premier Red

Michigan Wine Country highlights Michigan’s premier red wine grape - Cabernet Franc. Often called Cab Franc for short, this red wine grape grows particularly well in Southwest Michigan. The growing season is long enough to develop the ripeness and depth of flavors for a medium to full bodied red, punctuated by beautiful dark fruit flavors. Former owner and head wine maker, Dean Bender, was interviewed in this article, citing his 14 years crafting Cab Franc (our Lawton Ridge Winery version is named “Wine Maiden” from the 2022 vintage and prior).
